The BC Métis Federation (BCMF) is a non-profit association that works to ensure the well-being of its growing membership across British Columbia.

Strategic Plan 2025-28

The BC Métis Federation’s key priorities between April 1, 2025 and March 31, 2028 are: Rights & Recognition; Cultural Revitalization; Member & Community Support; and Capacity Development.

Project “Coming Home”

The BC Métis Federation is developing a cultural centre in Vancouver, showcasing the unique and diverse history of Métis people in the Pacific Northwest—creating as cultural home for Métis people in British Columbia.

Reconciliation

Most Canadians know little of the history of the Métis. Through education, partnerships, and a commitment to open and honest conversations, the BC Métis Federation is contributing to the ongoing process of reconciliation within Canada.

MetisInBC.ca

Through an Indigenous-led, community based approach, the BC Métis Federation is researching the hidden histories of Métis in the Pacific Northwest—reversing the erasure of mixed race ancestry and memory in BC.

Michif.ca

Historically, use of Michif-French was widespread by Métis but now the language is listed as endangered by the United Nations. The BC Métis Federation recognizes the importance of language to culture and is working to save Michif-French through programs developing new generations of fluent speakers.

BCMetis.Work

Through partnerships with industry, the BC Métis Federation supports its members in finding meaningful employment through ongoing career services.

Métis Business Directory

The BC Métis Federation is proud to support and promote Métis owned businesses in British Columbia, raising awareness of them through its Métis Business Directory.

Procurement Partnerships

BCMF’s Industry Engagement team is actively working with industry to seek out and capitalize on procurement opportunities for Métis contractors.

Conservation

The Conservation Department of the BC Métis Federation focuses on community engagement as the foundation of its mission, emphasizing active participation and collaboration to safeguard British Columbia’s natural heritage.

The department is dedicated to connecting with communities across the province, promoting environmental stewardship and collective action. Through various initiatives, it ensures members are well-informed and involved in conservation efforts.
